Producers of texts use purpose and style to affect our perspective on what it means to be human.
Aim: Consider what process we have to write an essay.
Now we have used the appropriate analysis scaffolds to extract the maximum amount of information
1) Make sure our title is challenging (And that we know our title!)
2) Make sure we use the appropriate essay scaffold.
4) Makes sure we understand Topic sentences.
The Bradley Patented Method (and a few others!)
Topic Sentences
As you go further along the academic road you will find I begin more and more to highlight the first paragraph of your essays. This is because your essays become more advanced and I need to know exactly what your point is. So I turn first to your first lines of each paragraph. They become my roadmap through your essay. If they are clear then I can follow what you are saying.
Give it a go. Take one of your essays and highlight the first lines. Are they clear? Could I summarise your essay just by taking those first lines? If the answer is either "Wah?" or "No!" then take a look at the video above and or the website to the side.
Communication Skills: Read critically and for comprehension.
Whilst the ATL here tells you to be 'reading' for comprehension - it equally is pointing to the fact that we need to be reading our own work to help comprehension - in other words write for comprehension! If you can read for comprehension then you can write for comprehension and vice versa!
Exemplar of Process
This should help you see the process.
You may wonder at the fact that I left out one of the frameworks. This is because that was there to make the work quicker for you. Maybe it just confuses you... let me know.
I have colour coded my work as other subjects:
Black - Topic Sentence (Point)
Red - Evidence (Evidence)
Blue - Exploration (Explain)
You should be able to see how we can technically lift the information from the framework and place it into the plan essay. We can lift this into the essay. The point of the mid-station is so that we can check logic, level of research, appropriateness... This is a good way of planning as it helps give an overview of structure and also encourages achronological analysis

Thank you for Soundus for letting me know that this is what is taught in INS, indeed what you have been recently learning, as the 'Jane Schaffer' approach.
I am very thankful as we can now see how the two subjects are working in the same way to move forward!
