ATL: Critical Thinking Skills: Gather and organise relevant information to formulate an argument.
So analysis is about asking questions, as we saw in the previous poem. And we ask questions to gather information. A big trap for many students is thinking that the gathering of information is the whole task. They do a type of literary wordsearch - they find the similes, the metaphors, the assonance... and then sit back all proud of themselves. They forget the second, most important task- to use this information to formulate and argument. Keep this in mind, especially when you are comparing the online review below with Carol Rumen's article.
