Analysis - Literary Constructs

Remember that everything we read is a LITERARY CONSTRUCT - that is to say made up! Even our memories, when written down, are selcted and constructed to give a particular idea, thought or image.

This means that we can ask why about everything.

Remember though, what we INFER is not necessarily what the author meant to IMPLY.

Remember how we use a scaffold to bring out ideas.

Try this but also get used to ANNOTATING the paper copy!

Research

So we have asked questions and found as many answers as we can ... now we can go and look at what others think... We could ask friends, we could research on google, google scholar. We could do a comparative exercise to see if our findings agree with other poems.

This time we shall read an article from the Guardian.

Task: Read the article and add to you notes

Task: Look at how the article is constructed; the tone it is written in; how it references key moments... This is how we should present ideas.

ATL: Listen actively to other perspectives and ideas

If you are still struggling with this, then it might be worth taking a little time to consider this programme.

The way we build understadning is to ty to find out as much as we can about another person's perspective - to listen.

Questions:

In what ways might listening to programmes like this help our understanding?

In what ways might  listening to  programmes like this impair our understanding?
