Aim: To consider what questions we ask of a text
Where is home?
I was born in England, in West Sussex. At the age of eight my parents uprooted and moved us to another county and I began to realise wht at it is like missing home. I moved from living right next door to a large forest filled with trails. And I moved to a little village with its own woods and trails but I can remember everytime I closed my eyes I could only see the horse shoe prints from my home. Since then I have moved across the world. I have formed my own family, no two which of whom have matching birth certificates.
Task: You have one hour to write about your 'home'. Try to think about what makes it home. What do you miss when you are away? Is there a story that brings it all together? You may right a story, a poem, an analysis essay, a persuasive essay, an interview article ... In short, write what you want to write.
Question: How did it feel to write? There is a lot of personal, therapeutic value in writing. It can make you feel really good. However, when we write in English it should always be directed towards and audience. Who might want to read what you wrote? What have you actually communicated with them? How could you have made this clearer?
Task: What does Michael Bublé use to help express his emotions?
Another summer day
Has come and gone away
In Paris and Rome
But I wanna go home, mmm
May be surrounded by
A million people I
Still feel all alone
Just wanna go home
Oh, I miss you, you know
And I've been keeping all the letters
That I wrote to you
Each one a line or two
I'm fine baby, how are you?
Well I would send them but I know
That it's just not enough
My words were cold and flat
And you deserve more than that
Another airplane
Another sunny place
I'm lucky I know
But I wanna go home
Mmm, I got to go home
Let me go home
I'm just too far
From where you are
I wanna come home
And I feel just like
I'm living someone else's life
It's like I just stepped outside
When everything was going right
And I know just why you could not
Come along with me
That this was not your dream…

All teachers are saying the same thing but with different words. As a general rule you can get help just by searching Youtube these days!
Remember, though this is true...it is also true that each exam is slightly different with slightly different rules.
