ATL: 1 Research/Media Literacy: Communicate information and ideas effectively to multiple audiences using a variety of media and formats.
The key words here are effectively and media... this for many of you is a new media to control. You need to learn what yu are sayig and how to say exactly what you want to say. The videos and charts below will help get you started.
There is so much to be learning here. The rule of thirds is a good, easy place to start. Switch on your grids so that you can learn to read your composition. What I mean by that is that you need to learn to look not just at your subject but at what is going on around them. Make sure something is not sticking out of their head. Make sure that, when you look at the whole screen your eye is drawn to the subject my lines, lighting...
The best way to do all this though is not to sit and learn it..not in the time we have... it is to watch stuff, get out there and start practicing.
Composition
Rule of Three...
Camera Angles

Honestly there are just so many cheat sheets out there... and this is a time to definitely reach for one... better still, make your own. (If we had time we would definitely be doing just that. Sadly, we do not.)
Best Shots
Health Warning: This is addictive watching and every time you watch one of these another is just around the corner. My favourite content producer is 'Every Frame A Painting'. Their introduction to Akira Kurasowa is thrilling, Buster Keaton is thought provoking...
Lateral Shots
This one, when I first watched it, blew my mind. I knew about the idea of left and right having different meanings. (Think Devil and Angel on Tom/Jerry's shoulders!) But the idea of time and which way we read.
Well worth a watch.
Establishing Shots
I just can't stop adding things here... there are so many other things you need to watch.... One day we shall introduce Film Studies and someone will teach you these slowly, properly with time to copy, change, understand... till then...
