Objective: to understand and begin to look for themes and motifs.
Game Time
Guess the theme tune.
Questions: the themes you recognised... what did they mean to you? How about if a new series came out with a similar theme - or even the same theme? Or if they did a one of special using a different theme?
Music v. Themes/Motifs
If the music can tell another level of story - what about different threads that reappear? eg. Dealing with violence, sunsets, or even reference to other universal threads, eg. villany / heroism...

ATL: Read critically and for comprehension
Sometimes reading critically means looking beyond the storyline. As we have already discussed everything in a story is not real. We have created the space, defined the weather, we even chose to give the character green eyes and dressed them according to an idea... Well, what if an idea is repeated? Or an Object? When we peel away the suspension of disbelief then we have to wonder why that objet, that idea, that reference was important? We might also begin to link it with all the other times we have seen that disucssion, use of that image... now we can construct a wider language. One we are already using albeit subconciously.
Star Wars Music ... okay most film music... can work as study music as it is designed not to occupy your thoughts but to work in the background... so :
